Malaysia Deputy PM to visit Indonesia to strengthen halal cooperation

Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi is scheduled to conduct a working visit to Indonesia this week. A key component of the trip includes a bilateral meeting with Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka on Thursday, September 17.

The discussions between the two leaders are expected to cover bilateral cooperation, current developments, and shared targets for upcoming annual bilateral consultations. A primary focus of the visit is the strengthening of halal sector cooperation, serving as a follow-up to a previously signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two nations.

As part of this agenda, the Deputy Prime Minister will attend an international halal forum in Cibubur. Malaysian Chargé d'Affaires Farzamie Sarkawi emphasized the need for increased coordination to ensure that the agreed-upon halal cooperation commitments are translated into concrete actions.
