Malaysia expands healthcare capabilities and preventive wellness trends

Malaysia is experiencing a significant shift in public health attitudes, with an increasing emphasis on proactive wellness and preventive care rather than reactive treatment. This trend includes a greater focus on regular health screenings, physical activity, and balanced nutrition, as well as holistic well-being encompassing emotional and social health.

In response to evolving medical needs, Sunway Medical Centre (SMC) in Sunway City, Malaysia, is strengthening its capacity as a quaternary referral hospital for the Southeast Asian region, including patients from Indonesia. The facility is expanding its multidisciplinary expertise and digital integration to manage complex medical cases.

SMC currently operates with 1,090 beds and over 370 consultants, offering more than 80 subspecialties across 28 Centres of Excellence. The center holds three international hospital accreditations, including Joint Commission International (JCI), and is recognized among the world's best hospitals by Newsweek.
