Malaysia focuses on ECRL transport network and connectivity
The Pahang state government is prioritizing long-term development plans to strengthen transport networks and improve citizen mobility. Pahang Menteri Besar Dato’ Sri Diraja Haji Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail stated that early planning has been submitted to PLAN Malaysia to ensure the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) network expansion is integrated into the state's future structural plans.
Additionally, the Menteri Besar expressed the state government's intention to return the ECRL project to a double-track configuration, consistent with previous approvals.
In a separate development regarding ECRL connectivity, Malaysia Rail Link Sdn. Bhd. (MRL) announced that a covered pedestrian bridge connecting the ECRL Gombak Station to the Gombak LRT Station is expected to be completed by March 2027. To facilitate passenger movement when ECRL services begin in December 2026, temporary routes will be provided. MRL is also discussing potential shuttle bus services with Prasarana to assist passengers, particularly those traveling with luggage, to ensure the Gombak station functions as an integrated public transport hub.
