Malaysia focuses on young engineers and road infrastructure expertise

Malaysian Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi has announced a focus on strengthening the expertise of young engineers and new professionals in the field of road engineering. This initiative is being implemented through the Young Engineers and Professionals (YEP) program, which aims to provide opportunities for youth to gain knowledge and experience as new workers enter the industry annually.

The effort aligns with national emphasis on engineering education, including Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and university studies. These remarks were made during the opening of the 13th Malaysia Road Conference and Exhibition 2026 and the 6th International Road Federation (IRF) Global Asia Pacific Regional Congress in Kuala Lumpur. The conference, themed ‘Transforming the Nation Through Future-Ready Roads’, highlights Malaysia's commitment to developing resilient and sustainable road infrastructure through technology and innovation.
