Malaysia fuel supply stable, inflation falls to 1.9%

Petronas said the supply of fuel at Malaysian stations is expected to remain stable and sufficient through September. The company is monitoring the global energy crisis linked to the West Asia conflict and is diversifying crude imports from West Africa and the Americas. Petronas estimates Malaysia’s crude oil reserves at about 3.89 billion barrels and natural‑gas reserves at 13.19 billion barrels, giving a production life of more than 20 years.

Bank Negara Malaysia reported that overall inflation dropped to 1.9 percent in June 2026, down from 2.0 percent in May. The decline was driven mainly by lower retail fuel prices for RON97 gasoline and diesel, alongside easing price pressures on jewellery, watches and other core items. The central bank noted stable credit growth for the private non‑financial sector and unchanged asset‑quality ratios.
