Malaysia: Geography, economy, and tropical destinations
Malaysia is a Southeast Asian nation divided between the Malay Peninsula and the island of Borneo. The country features a diverse landscape of mountains, plateaus, and plains, covered largely by tropical rainforests, swamps, and mangroves. Its climate is characterized by tropical monsoons, with wet summers and dry winters.
Economically, Malaysia is recognized as one of the ‘New Asian Tigers’ due to its rapid industrial growth since the 1990s, particularly in the manufacturing of technological equipment and electronic components like integrated circuits. The capital city is Kuala Lumpur.
For tourism, the nation offers various tropical destinations, including the Perhentian Islands and Pulau Redang. Notable locations include Coral Bay in Perhentian Kecil, known for its calm waters and marine life, and Pasir Panjang in Pulau Redang, which is recognized for its white sand and coral reefs. The ideal visiting season for the Perhentian Islands is from March to October, as monsoon weather affects travel and accommodations between November and February.
