Malaysia government demands explanation over TuJu navigation app failures
The Malaysian government has ordered the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) and Prosignal Consortium Sdn. Bhd. (PCSB) to provide a detailed explanation regarding technical issues plaguing the TuJu navigation application. Following a Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Government Spokesperson Fahmi Fadzil stated that the explanation must cover technical aspects, current performance status, and specific steps for improvement to restore public confidence.
Lim Guan Eng, former Finance Minister and DAP advisor, has called for transparency regarding the development costs, the open tender process, and the approval authority for the app. He raised concerns over the board members of the developing company, alleging some have links to opposition parties despite lacking expertise in software engineering or navigation technology.
The TuJu app was officially launched on November 26, 2025, following a four-year development period initiated via a Memorandum of Understanding signed in May 2022. The controversy follows a directive for civil servants to use TuJu as an alternative to Waze.
