Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council launches Helo Doktor Tour

The Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC), in collaboration with Tourism Malaysia and TV3, has launched the Helo Doktor Tour. This nationwide outreach programme aims to provide Malaysians and expatriates with direct access to medical specialists for advice on preventive healthcare and treatment options.

The initiative seeks to address concerns regarding inadequate health screening and undiagnosed chronic illnesses. Data from the 2023 National Health and Morbidity Survey indicates that 42.8% of Malaysian adults had not undergone screening for diabetes, hypertension, or high cholesterol in the preceding 12 months. Additionally, approximately 3.6 million adults in Malaysia have diabetes, with a significant portion unaware of their condition.

The tour will feature live interactions with healthcare professionals, hospital representatives, and free health screenings. A pilot event is scheduled for November 28 at Publika, Kuala Lumpur, with quarterly tours planned throughout 2027. The programme will also be supported by four special episodes of the Helo Doktor talk show on TV3 and various digital platforms.
