Malaysia immigration authorities conduct raids in Kuala Lumpur and Kulai

Malaysian authorities have conducted multiple enforcement operations targeting illegal immigration and business non-compliance. In Kuala Lumpur, an integrated operation known as ‘Ops Gasak’ was carried out by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), and the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIMKL) in the Setiawangsa parliamentary area.

The Kuala Lumpur operation resulted in the detention of 24 foreign nationals. Authorities also issued 19 compound notices to premises owners, nine closure orders, and two seizure actions under local government laws. The SSM issued nine notices regarding business registration compliance.

In Johor, the Immigration Department conducted six simultaneous operations in Kulai, including ‘Op Mahir’ and ‘Op Selera’. These raids targeted electronic factories, vehicle wash premises, shop houses, and food outlets. The operations led to the detention of 69 foreign nationals from Myanmar, Indonesia, India, Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh, as well as two local human resources officers from a factory.

All detainees in the Kulai operations are being held at the Setia Tropika Immigration Depot for further investigation under the Immigration Act 1959/63.
