MyIMMs hack fraudulent PLKS Malaysia immigration SPRM investigation arrests

The Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) cancelled 1,306 Temporary Work Passes (PLKS) that were approved fraudulently after a hack of the MyIMMs immigration system. The breach involved insiders who installed software on department computers and used administrator IDs to create fake accounts for the illegal approvals.

The anti‑corruption commission (SPRM) has remanded 12 suspects – six immigration officers, four IT staff, two company directors, three foreign nationals and one police officer – to aid the investigation. Authorities seized cash (RM186,360), foreign currency (SGD700), jewellery (RM15,700) and electronic equipment worth about RM36,000. The scheme is estimated to have cost the government RM2.4 million.

Immigration Director Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said JIM will pursue legal action against the foreign nationals holding the bogus passes and will cooperate fully with SPRM, CyberSecurity Malaysia, Telekom Malaysia and SPRM’s forensic unit to bring any corrupt immigration officers to justice.
