Malaysia implements AI and anti-corruption measures in tax and forestry sectors

The Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (HASiL) is intensifying its use of artificial intelligence to enhance tax administration. HASiL CEO Datuk Dr Abu Tariq Jamaluddin announced that AI technology has already identified over 7,700 potential tax risk cases through e-Invoice data analysis. The agency has also introduced HAFY – TaxAssist, an AI-based conversational chatbot designed to provide taxpayers with guidance 24/7.

In a separate governance initiative, the Sarawak Forest Department launched three anti-corruption and risk management frameworks in Sibu. These include the Anti-Bribery Management System (ABMS) Manual, the Corruption Risk Management Plan (CRMP), and the Organisational Anti-Corruption Plan (OACS). The documents aim to strengthen transparency and internal controls in the management of the state’s forest resources.
