Malaysia introduces digital IPO portal and updates on ASB investment

The Malaysian Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) is launching a new digital portal to manage the 12.5 percent IPO allocation reserved for Bumiputera investors. Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani stated that the platform replaces manual application methods to improve efficiency, transparency, and governance. The automated system is designed to prevent information manipulation or bypassing, allowing applicants to register online rather than visiting ministry offices physically.

Separately, Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) remains a primary investment choice for Malaysians. Managed by Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad (ASNB), a subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB), the fund offers a guaranteed capital value of RM1 per unit. While the official 2026 dividend rates are typically announced in December, historical trends suggest distributions in the range of 5 to 6 sen per unit. Dividends are calculated based on the minimum monthly balance held throughout the year.
