Malaysia introduces school uniform installment plans

The Malaysian Ministry of Education, through the National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI), has introduced an initiative allowing parents to purchase school uniforms via installment plans to ease the financial burden of the upcoming school season.

Education expert Dr. Anuar Ahmad has commented on the initiative, suggesting that the government should instead categorize school uniforms as controlled goods to prevent price hikes during peak demand periods. He proposed the creation of a 'Madani School Uniform' brand to ensure affordability, stating that installment plans are only effective if prices remain stable or lower than market rates. He argued that controlling prices directly would be more effective than teaching citizens to manage debt for consumable goods.
