Malaysia launches Bakat Madani program for 25,000 youth

The Malaysian government announced the Bakat Madani initiative, targeting 25,000 young people with a year‑long programme that offers skill development, quality‑job placement and greater social mobility. Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim introduced the scheme at a launch ceremony in Bandar Sri Sendayan, highlighting cooperation between the government, government‑linked investment companies (GLIC), government‑linked corporations (GLC), Petronas and higher‑education institutions.

Anwar said the programme aims to ensure fair access for youths from disadvantaged backgrounds and ties talent development to national stability, unity and economic growth. Finance Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah described human‑capital development as “infrastructure” as essential as ports, airports and power grids for sustaining Malaysia’s competitiveness.
