Malaysia launches NCLAP30 to address cost of living
The Malaysian government has launched the National Cost of Living Action Plan 2030 (NCLAP30) to combat rising living expenses over the next five years. The plan outlines 35 strategies and 429 initiatives designed to provide a comprehensive national framework for managing cost-of-living pressures.
Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali, stated that the plan focuses on two primary priorities: increasing citizens' living income and stabilizing the prices of essential goods and services. The initiative utilizes a ‘whole-of-nation’ approach, requiring cooperation between the government, the private sector, and the community.
The NCLAP30 covers eight strategic clusters: income, food, health, education, transportation, housing, utilities, and general expenses. This multi-sectoral approach aims to address the various components of household expenditure beyond just food prices. The plan was officially launched in Melaka by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and is aligned with the Madani Economy Framework.
