Malaysia launches OSHMP30 plan to protect workers and stabilize incomes

Malaysia has introduced the National Occupational Safety and Health Plan 2026–2030, known as OSHMP30, to cut work‑related injuries, fatalities and diseases while safeguarding household incomes. The plan expands protection to gig‑economy workers, automation and AI‑related risks, psychosocial hazards, climate change impacts and micro‑ and small‑enterprise staff. It outlines six strategies that stress management responsibility, health and welfare, technology use, support for micro and small enterprises, and education and training, with a focus on real‑world implementation, listening to lower‑level workers, enforcing laws and giving practical help to small employers.

Targeting millions of Malaysians employed in factories, construction sites, farms, workshops, restaurants, supermarkets, schools, offices and gig services such as e‑hailing and food delivery, OSHMP30 aims to ensure every worker can return home safely, thereby protecting families and sustaining the nation’s workforce.
