Malaysia launches six-month driverless RoboVan trial in Cyberjaya
Autonomous logistics provider Autonomous Logistic Solutions (ALS) has commenced a six-month public-road trial of its Level 4 autonomous RoboVan in Cyberjaya, Malaysia. The vehicle is operating along the 22km Malaysia Autonomous Vehicle (MyAV) route, which includes intersections, pedestrian crossings, and commercial zones to simulate real urban conditions.
As a Level 4 autonomous vehicle, the RoboVan is designed to perform driving tasks without human input within a defined operational area. The trial involves a fully driverless vehicle with a valid license plate, marking a significant step for Malaysian autonomous technology. The vehicle utilizes a combination of cameras, radar, and LiDAR for 360-degree sensing and obstacle detection.
Operations are managed via a Remote Operations Centre (ROC) in Cyberjaya, where operators monitor live video feeds, telemetry, and diagnostics to provide oversight. This trial follows a previous proof-of-concept with Pos Malaysia and aims to gather the operational data necessary for future commercial deployment of autonomous logistics services.
