Malaysia Leads ASEAN‑China Housing Summit, adopts Ipoh Accord

Malaysia hosted the ASEAN‑China Ministerial Conference on Construction and Housing (ACMROCH) 2026 in Ipoh, bringing together more than 300 ministers, senior officials and delegations from 11 ASEAN member states and China. The summit focused on sustainable urban development, quality housing and inclusive communities, and produced the “Ipoh Accord” that sets out three priority areas: energy‑efficient and climate‑responsive housing, value‑based affordable homes, and cohesive, safe neighbourhoods. The accord also calls for the use of smart technologies, innovative construction methods and low‑carbon building materials, and establishes a framework for policy sharing, industry collaboration and city‑to‑city exchanges across the region.

Minister of Housing and Local Government Nga Kor Ming said the agreement moves ASEAN‑China cooperation from dialogue to concrete action, aiming to address rapid urbanisation pressures on infrastructure, energy and housing while enhancing resilience to climate change.
