Malaysia leads Asia in AI confidence, Alibaba Cloud survey shows

Alibaba Cloud’s AI Business Application Readiness and Accessibility Survey found that 92% of Malaysian organisations are confident about adopting artificial intelligence, with 60% already exploring or implementing AI projects. All respondents said they plan to increase AI investment, especially in infrastructure, platforms and model services. Across Asia, three‑quarters of firms now consider AI indispensable, and close to 90% have adopted AI platforms in some form. In Malaysia, the top use cases are AI‑powered chatbots for customer service, data analysis, marketing content creation, software development and HR automation.

The survey identified data privacy and security, implementation costs and a shortage of skilled AI talent as the main barriers to scaling AI. Companies increasingly prefer integrated AI‑cloud solutions for simplified deployment, stronger security and unified management. Separately, Jess O’Reilly, ASEAN Workday manager, said Malaysia’s strong digital foundation and growing corporate readiness could position the country as a regional financial‑technology hub, provided organisations adopt trusted AI systems, robust governance and a culture that encourages AI use and up‑skilling of staff.
