Malaysia lifts petrol and diesel prices as West Asia tensions rise
The Malaysian Ministry of Finance announced that, under the Automatic Pricing Mechanism, retail prices for unleaded gasoline (RON97 and RON95) will rise by 20 sen per litre and diesel by 35 sen per litre for the week 23 – 29 July 2026. A follow‑up notice set a 20‑sen increase for both gasoline and diesel for the week 30 July – 5 August 2026.
The adjustments are linked to higher global oil markets after renewed United States‑Iran conflict in West Asia, which pushed Brent crude up about 16 % and to roughly US$96 a barrel. The government said domestic fuel supplies remain adequate and that subsidies for eligible consumers continue through the BUDI MADANI programmes.
