Malaysia Ministry of Education guarantees no closure of Tamil vernacular schools

The Malaysian Ministry of Education has issued a guarantee that no Tamil vernacular schools (SJKT) will be closed under the current Madani administration. Education Minister Datuk Seri Fadhlina Sidek emphasized that the government will instead focus on the development, maintenance, and strengthening of teacher and student programs across all such schools.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony for the SJKT Sungai Bakap construction project in Nibong Tebal, Fadhlina addressed public concerns regarding the potential closure of these institutions. She stated that the government is committed to supporting these schools to ensure comprehensive educational needs are met.

The RM12.6 million construction project for SJKT Sungai Bakap, which had been stalled for over seven years, will be implemented by Yayasan Didik Negara over a 56-week period. The project will be monitored by the Penang State Education Department.
