Malaysia offers humanitarian aid to Yemen and Indonesia
Malaysian Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan has announced Malaysia's readiness to provide humanitarian assistance to Yemen to alleviate the suffering caused by its ongoing civil war. Following a conversation with Yemeni Foreign and Expatriate Minister Dr. Afrah Abdulaziz Al-Zouba, Hasan expressed sympathy for the approximately 22 million people affected by famine and shortages of basic necessities. He urged all parties involved in the conflict to return to diplomatic negotiations to ensure regional stability.
Separately, Malaysia has expressed its willingness to assist Indonesia in combating widespread forest fires, subject to the nation's capabilities. Hasan noted that aerial firefighting operations have faced significant challenges due to limited visibility, posing risks to flight safety. He intends to contact his Indonesian counterpart to discuss specific needs and may coordinate potential assistance with other Gulf nations, following discussions with the UAE Foreign Minister regarding their readiness to help.
