Malaysia Parliament Open Day expects over 10,000 visitors

The 2026 Malaysia Parliament Open Day is expected to attract over 10,000 visitors in a single day, following an enthusiastic response from the public. Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tan Sri Johari Abdul, noted that crowds began arriving as early as 7:30 a.m., signaling a strong interest in understanding the country's legislative institution and its democratic processes.

Johari Abdul stated that the event aims to bridge the gap between Parliament and the people, ensuring that lawmakers and administrators remain connected to the aspirations of the citizenry. The theme for the 2026 event is ‘Merakyatkan Parlimen’ (Democratizing Parliament).

Parliament Chief Administrator Datuk Ahmad Husaini Abdul Rahman added that the strength of the institution relies on the extent to which the public understands, trusts, and feels a sense of ownership over the House of Representatives and the Senate.
