Malaysia promotes medical device exports at Bangkok health expo ahead of 2027 International Health Week

Malaysia took part in the World Health Expo (WHX) Bangkok 2026, held from 8‑10 July at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre, to showcase eight local companies and expand export markets for medical devices and health‑care services. MATRADE Director Omar Mohd Salleh said the participation was a “two‑sided strategy” to promote Malaysian firms and attract international exhibitors and visitors for the International Health Week (IHW) that Malaysia will host in Kuala Lumpur in 2027. The exhibition, combined with Medtec Southeast Asia, drew about 950 exhibitors and 26,000 visitors, providing a platform for business networking, investment and regional cooperation.

Ambassador to Thailand Datuk Wan Zaidi Wan Abdullah highlighted the long‑standing diplomatic and economic ties, noting that “Malaysia and Thailand have built and enjoyed close diplomatic and economic relations for a long time. Our participation in WHX Bangkok 2026 marks another step toward strengthening two‑way trade and expanding health‑care collaboration.” MATRADE also organised a Malaysia Health Care Day Forum to bring together government agencies, industry professionals and investors from both countries. Malaysia’s medical‑device exports were valued at US$8.06 billion in 2025, including US$2.35 billion in medical gloves and US$1.27 billion in needles and catheters, underscoring its growing role as a trusted health‑care supplier in the region.
