Malaysia public servants adopt daily hybrid work schedule

Around 15,000 Malaysian civil servants have been working under the Hybrid Working Day (HBH) scheme each day since it began on 1 August. The policy allows three days of physical attendance at the office and two days of remote work, subject to approval by department heads.

Tan Sri Dr Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz, Director‑General of Public Service, said the programme is in its early stage and that a comprehensive impact assessment will be possible after one to three months. He described HBH as a future‑proof measure to keep government service delivery robust amid global workplace changes, noting that similar hybrid models are already used in Singapore and several Scandinavian countries.
