Malaysia seizes 637 tonnes of Ugandan cocoa beans at Johor port
The Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) has seized 637 tonnes of cocoa beans at Pasir Gudang Port in Johor. The shipment, originating from Uganda, consists of 9,100 bags with an estimated value of 11.88 million ringgit.
Authorities detained the cargo after discovering incomplete documentation and suspicious information during an inspection. Under the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Act 2011, individuals found making false declarations may face fines of up to 50,000 ringgit and imprisonment for up to two years, with increased penalties for repeat offenders.
