Malaysia sends seven golfers to Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship
A seven-member Malaysian amateur golf squad is competing in the 17th edition of the Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship (AAC) at Te Arai Links in New Zealand. The team aims to improve upon Malaysia’s previous best finishes, which include a tied-seventh placement in 2023.
The squad is led by Anson Yeo, making his fifth consecutive appearance in the tournament. Other members include U.S.-based Nateesh Ganesh, Hariz Hezri, Aiden Kei, Danish Rizal, Maverick Chua, and 15-year-old Afham Othman, who is the youngest participant in the championship.
The stakes for the tournament are high, as the winner receives invitations to play in two major championships: The Masters and The Open. Players noted that the Te Arai Links course presents specific challenges, including strong winds and a links-style layout requiring creative shot-making.
