Malaysia wins sepak takraw silver at 2026 Asian Games

The Malaysian national sepak takraw squad secured a silver medal in the men’s regu event at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games following a 0-2 defeat to Thailand. The loss prevented Malaysia from achieving a double-gold mission, having previously won the team regu title.

Head coach Ahmad Jais Baharun attributed the defeat to Thailand’s superior momentum, noting their polished performance in both attack and defense. Despite the loss, Jais described the result as a positive step for identifying team weaknesses.

Following the victory in the team event, Jais emphasized the need to strengthen national development programs. He called for more opportunities for young players to gain international exposure to ensure a continuous pipeline of talent to succeed senior players like Farhan Adam and Mohammad Syahir Mohd Rosdi.
