Malaysia squash duo qualify for Los Angeles 2028 Olympics

Malaysian squash players Ng Eain Yow and Sivasangari Subramaniam have secured direct qualification for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games after winning gold medals at the Asian Games in Nagoya.

In the men’s singles final, Ng Eain Yow successfully defended his title by defeating India’s Abhay Singh with a 3-0 scoreline (11-9, 11-5, 11-5). In the women’s singles, Sivasangari Subramaniam also secured gold by defeating Anahat Singh of India 3-0 (11-4, 11-4, 11-7), defending her previous championship title.

As squash makes its Olympic debut in 2028, these victories mark a historic milestone for the sport and the athletes. Meanwhile, World Squash President Zena Wooldridge noted that while the sport has secured its place for LA 2028, the governing body remains focused on maintaining its presence for future games, such as Brisbane 2032, by emphasizing the sport’s portability and low infrastructural demands.
