Malaysia targets 200,000 spectators for MotoGP at Sepang
The Malaysian Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS) is optimistic about the upcoming MotoGP event at the Sepang International Circuit (SIC), scheduled from October 30 to November 1. Minister Dr. Mohammed Taufiq Johari expressed confidence that the event could attract up to 200,000 spectators, surpassing the previous attendance of 190,000. Local rider Hakim Danish Ramli is expected to be a key focus for fans.
In preparation for large-scale events, the KBS and SIC are reviewing improvements to traffic management and transportation facilities. This follows lessons learned from recent international racing collaborations, such as the F1 event in Bahrain, to prevent congestion. The government aims to enhance infrastructure and communication through inter-ministerial cooperation.
Additionally, a special committee will be established to evaluate the feasibility of Malaysia hosting Formula 1 races again in the future. This assessment will rely on data and economic impact studies before any recommendations are presented to the Cabinet.
