Malaysia targets two sepak takraw gold medals at 2026 Asian Games

Datuk Mohd Sumali Reduan, Chief of Mission and President of the Malaysia Sepaktakraw Federation, has set a target of two gold medals for the national sepak takraw squad at the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

The goal focuses on the regu and team events. Sumali expressed confidence in the squad following their success as the 2026 World Cup champions, noting that players are currently in peak condition with strong mental resilience.

Malaysia aims to end a more than 30-year wait for a gold medal in the regu event, a feat last achieved in Palembang. However, Sumali noted that competition is expected to be intense, particularly from Thailand and Indonesia.
