Malaysia to pay driver assistance via EFT

Transport Minister Anthony Loke announced that the remaining recipients of the RM1,000 special financial assistance for eligible taxi, car rental, and school bus drivers will receive payments via Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT). This follows an initial phase where assistance was distributed physically in specific zones, including a recent symbolic ceremony in Penang.

To qualify for the aid, drivers must possess an active Driver Card, a valid vehicle license or permit (VP), and a valid Public Service Vehicle (PSV) license. Loke emphasized the importance of coordination between agencies under the Ministry of Transport, such as the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) and the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP) in Sabah and Sarawak, to ensure a transparent and fair screening process.
