Malaysia to present national entry point security plan to Cabinet
The Malaysian government is set to present a comprehensive plan to the Cabinet to improve security controls at national entry points. Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail stated that the proposal will be presented jointly with Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook.
The plan aims to eliminate ‘in silo’ operations by ensuring better coordination between various agencies, including the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Transport. Key focus areas include infrastructure upgrades such as the installation of CCTV cameras and scanning machines, as well as enhanced training for personnel operating these systems.
This initiative follows a Cabinet directive to strengthen security measures and prevent incidents that could damage the country's image. The development of the plan was prompted by recent security concerns, including the arrest of a Malaysian pilot in Indonesia involving drug smuggling at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.
