Malaysia to provide free medicine delivery starting October 2026
The Malaysian government will provide free medicine delivery through the Ubat Melalui Pos (UMP) service starting October 1, 2026. This initiative aims to benefit approximately 80,000 to 87,000 patients monthly by covering delivery costs that were previously paid by patients.
The program is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), supported by a RM5 million allocation. Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad stated the move is part of a broader effort to provide patient-centered care and improve healthcare accessibility.
Patients can manage follow-up medication supplies through the MyUBAT application, which has nearly 893,000 registered users. The service allows medications to be delivered via courier directly to homes or workplaces, reducing the need for patients to travel or wait in long queues at pharmacy counters.
