Malaysia Tourism Minister urges MM2H agents to follow local laws abroad

Malaysian Tourism Minister Tiong King Sing has urged Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) agents to strictly adhere to local laws and regulatory requirements when promoting the program abroad. The directive follows concerns regarding potential fraud and confusion within the agent system, particularly in the Korean market.

During a meeting with the Malaysia Immigration Association in Korea, representatives noted that some Malaysian agents may lack a full understanding of regulatory systems, leading them to deal directly with local individuals. This has resulted in various parties claiming they can manage MM2H applications without proper authorization.

Tiong emphasized that agents must comply with Malaysian legal frameworks and cooperate with legitimate local partners in target countries to ensure transparency. He stated that establishing clearer cooperation mechanisms is essential to reducing misunderstandings and building confidence among foreign applicants.
