Malaysian authorities crack down on illegal racing in Miri
The Sarawak Road Transport Department (JPJ) and the Royal Malaysia Police conducted a joint overnight operation in Miri to crack down on illegal racing and road offences. The enforcement action, which took place between October 3 and October 4, targeted several hotspots including Jalan Piasau, Jalan Bandar Miri, Jalan Bypass, and Taman Tunku.
During the operation, authorities inspected 35 motorcycles and one pickup truck. The inspections revealed various technical breaches and offences, such as driving without a valid license, unauthorized motorcycle structural modifications, missing side mirrors, and the use of non-compliant registration plates. JPJ Sarawak emphasized that such operations are necessary to address activities that threaten road user safety and public order.
