Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan advanced to the quarterfinals of the China Open in Changzhou after a 21‑19, 21‑12 win over Ukraine’s Polina Buhrova and Yevheniia Kantemyr. Their progress made them Malaysia’s last remaining representatives in the BWF World Tour Super 1000 event.

In the quarterfinals they faced the fourth‑seeded Japanese duo Yuki Fukushima and Mayu Matsumoto. The Japanese pair defeated the Malaysians in straight sets, 16‑21, 16‑21, in a match lasting about 46 minutes, ending Malaysia’s campaign at the tournament.
