Malaysian Cabinet Extends RCI Probe of Tabung Haji into PH and PN Eras

The Malaysian cabinet approved extending the period covered by the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) into Lembaga Tabung Haji (TH) so that its findings will also encompass the era of the new management takeover and the administrations of Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Perikatan Nasional (PN). Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the extension will allow a thorough assessment of recovery measures such as asset restructuring, asset liquidation and other reforms, and will help restore confidence among TH depositors.

The cabinet also agreed that the RCI report will be released to the public and debated in a special parliamentary sitting, with any identified misconduct, breach of trust, money‑laundering or other criminal activity to be referred for prosecution.
