Malaysian Football League rejects KL City FC postponement request

The Malaysian Football League (MFL) has rejected a request from Kuala Lumpur City FC (KL City FC) to postpone their upcoming match against Kuching City FC scheduled for August 26. The club had cited an influenza outbreak among its players, noting that medical reports from a government hospital required several players to be quarantined.

This follows a recent incident where KL City FC was unable to field a team for their match against Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) on August 22. Following a review, the MFL awarded NSFC a 3-0 victory and imposed a RM50,000 fine on KL City FC, along with requirements to cover all related damages and costs.

The MFL determined that KL City FC failed to manage player registrations effectively. Investigations revealed the club had only registered 12 players, violating league regulations that require a minimum of 15 players, including two goalkeepers. The club's registration issues were reportedly linked to a failure to resolve previous FIFA fines, which resulted in an international player registration ban.
