Malaysian leaders urge AI literacy and lifelong learning

Malaysian leaders are emphasizing the necessity of technological literacy and continuous education to keep pace with rapid advancements in artificial intelligence.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, speaking at the 66th International Quran Recitation and Memorisation Assembly, called for the adoption of AI and greater emphasis on knowledge and character among Muslims. He argued that religious understanding should be paired with intellectual and social development, ensuring that engagement with new technologies is grounded in faith and moral values.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil also highlighted the importance of lifelong learning, noting that skills and knowledge may quickly become obsolete due to AI. He urged workers to continuously acquire new skills and encouraged industries to learn from the creativity and experimentation of younger generations.
