Malaysian Maritime Agency seizes RM4.9 million in drug precursors
The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) intercepted a shipment of drug precursors valued at approximately RM4.958 million near the coast of Klebang. During a routine patrol at around 9:06 PM, officers discovered six black plastic-wrapped boxes containing 67 bottles of controlled chemical liquids.
These chemicals are believed to be used in the processing of synthetic drugs for the black market. No arrests were made at the scene, as suspects are believed to have fled upon noticing the authorities. This marks the second time the Melaka and Negeri Sembilan maritime division has recorded a seizure of drug-related materials via sea routes.
The case is being investigated under the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and the Poisons Act 1952. Authorities stated they will continue to intensify patrols and strategic cooperation with other security agencies to combat cross-border crime.
