Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency to acquire seven MERAC vehicles

The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (APMM) will receive seven Maritime Emergency Response And Coordination (MERAC) vehicles in stages starting this year. This procurement is part of the Fifth Rolling Plan of the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (RMK12).

These assets will serve as mobile operational centers to assist Maritime Rescue Sub-Centres (MRSC) in coordinating search and rescue operations in the field. The MERAC vehicles are designed to act as forward operating centers, facilitating inter-agency communication, information analysis, and logistics management during maritime emergencies.

Additionally, the vehicles will function as briefing centers for rescue agencies and help coordinate sea and air search and rescue assets. They will also serve as official information hubs for the media and victims' families to ensure organized and accurate communication during operations.
