Malaysian officials promote women's entrepreneurship and leadership
In Malaysia, government officials are emphasizing the importance of women's entrepreneurship and leadership in driving economic growth.
In Pahang, Dato’ Hajah Sabariah Saidan inaugurated the Pahang Women Entrepreneurs Festival at the Bera Convention Centre. The event serves as a platform for women to market products, share experiences, and build business networks. Saidan noted that many women begin as small-scale home businesses and, through discipline and courage, can expand into competitive enterprises.
In Sarawak, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri highlighted the need for women to create economic opportunities and employment through entrepreneurship. Shukri advocated for providing guidance and skills training to girls starting in school, utilizing unique local products to foster productivity. Additionally, she launched the Perantis PTS 062 program in Kuching, a leadership development initiative currently involving 43 Dayak participants, aimed at strengthening governance and decision-making skills among grassroots leaders.
