Malaysian Stray Animal Association urges probe into viral animal abuse video

The Malaysian Stray Animal Association (SAFM) has called for an immediate and thorough investigation following the viral spread of a 55-second video on TikTok allegedly showing a man sexually abusing a cat.

SAFM has urged the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Department of Veterinary Services (DVS), and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to collaborate on the probe. The association requested that authorities identify the individual involved, verify the video's authenticity, determine the location of the incident, and secure all relevant digital evidence.

If proven true, the association noted that the act could violate Section 377 of the Penal Code and Section 29 of the Animal Welfare Act 2015. SAFM also emphasized that locating the cat to assess its health and ensure its safety should be a top priority. The group has appealed to the public to provide any original footage or information that could assist in the investigation.
