Malaysian students excel in regional robotics and STEM competitions

Students from various Malaysian schools have demonstrated significant achievements in recent STEM and robotics competitions.

At the Malaysia Techlympics Sabah Zone 2026, the EZ Bot – Nexus 1 team from Al-Farabi Tahfiz Sains Primary School secured second place in the Primary School Computational Thinking Challenge. This achievement qualifies them for the national level in Serdang, Selangor. Additionally, the CSI – Vanguard 1 team from the same school placed fourth in the Criminal Investigation Challenge. These competitions aim to foster interest in STEM through robotics, programming, and systematic problem-solving.

In a separate national event, the Walnut Edutech Championship (WEC) 2026 held in Selangor, five teams from Sarawak schools secured prizes across multiple categories. Notable winners included SJK(C) Kai Ming, Bintulu, and SJK(C) Chung Hua 2, who took first and second prizes in the AlphaPi Buggy Smart Navigation Challenge. Other winning schools included SK Tebelu, SK Matang Jaya, and SJK(C) Simunjan, with successes in drone challenges and Scratch CPP categories. The Ministry of Education, Innovation, and Talent Development Sarawak noted that such opportunities help nurture creativity and technical skills in young talents.
