Malaysia's Business Events Sector Projected to Generate RM34.97 bn by 2030

Malaysia’s Business Events ecosystem is expected to deliver a total economic impact of RM34.97 billion by 2030, according to Tourism Minister Dato Sri Tiong King Sing. Since the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) was founded in 2009, it has secured more than 3,575 events, attracted over 4.5 million delegates and generated RM26.7 billion in impact. By the end of June 2026, an additional 416 events slated for 2026‑2030 are projected to add RM8.27 billion, bringing the cumulative figure to the RM34.97 billion target.

In Sarawak, Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah highlighted the need for stronger collaboration among government, industry and partners as the state prepares for larger international gatherings such as the International Water Association World Water Congress & Exhibition 2028 and the upcoming BCCK2 event. BESarawak officials, including Chairman Datu Hii Chang Kee and CEO Jason Tan Chin Foo, stressed that joint efforts are essential to expand infrastructure, enhance delegate experiences and maximise economic benefits for local communities.
