Malaysia's Official Reserves Hold at $132.56 Billion in June 2026
Bank Negara Malaysia reported that Malaysia’s official international reserves stood at US$132.56 billion at the end of June 2026, with other foreign‑currency assets amounting to US$1.55 billion. Short‑term outflows identified for the next 12 months total US$8.65 billion, covering scheduled repayments of foreign loans by the government and maturities of inter‑bank bills held by BNM. The net forward‑sale position was US$27.18 billion, indicating active cash‑ringgit management in the money market. BNM projects inbound foreign‑currency flows of US$2.98 billion over the same period. The only contingent short‑term outflow is the government guarantee on foreign‑currency debt maturing within a year, valued at US$846.4 million. The reserve data, compiled under IMF standards, confirms that Malaysia’s international reserves remain fully usable and free of contingent credit facilities.
These figures reflect Malaysia’s continued emphasis on prudent reserve management and liquidity support for the ringgit.
