Malcolm Marx targeted by Bulls for potential return to South Africa
The Bulls have reportedly expressed interest in bringing Springbok hooker Malcolm Marx back to South Africa. Marx, the current World Rugby Player of the Year, is currently playing for the Japanese club Kubota Spears.
While formal negotiations have not yet begun, the Pretoria-based outfit has sounded out Marx regarding a potential move to Loftus Versfeld once his current contract concludes next year. A return would reunite Marx with Bulls head coach Johan Ackermann, who oversaw Marx’s professional debut with the Lions in 2014.
The Bulls are looking to bolster their hooking department, which currently includes Johan Grobbelaar, Juann Else, and Juandré Schoeman. This interest follows news that Esethu Mnebelele is set to join the Sharks later this year.
Additionally, reports suggest that Bulls players Embrose Papier and Canan Moodie are attracting significant interest from overseas clubs, with Sale Sharks reportedly interested in the scrum-half Papier. The Bulls are reportedly working to retain both players beyond 2027.
