Maldives Housing Ministry begins verification of 58,000 applications
The Maldives Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development has commenced the verification process for the ‘Housing for All’ programme. This initiative, a flagship pledge of President Mohamed Muizzu, involves reviewing approximately 58,505 applications, consisting of 35,930 for flats and 22,575 for land plots.
Applicants whose submissions contain discrepancies or missing information compared to government and council records will be notified via the online housing portal and through SMS alerts. Those identified with issues have seven calendar days to upload clarifications and supporting documents through the portal. The ministry emphasized that submissions via email, letters, or other channels will not be accepted. Applications not rectified within this seven-day window may be deemed incomplete or ineligible.
The government intends to allocate 7,900 flats and 15,000 land plots as part of the scheme. The President has indicated that the list of flat recipients is expected to be announced within the current year.
