Maldives launches ‘Visit Maldives Year’ tourism campaign

The Maldives has officially launched the ‘Visit Maldives Year’ campaign to promote the nation as a premier travel destination. Unveiled during a National Tourism Day ceremony, the campaign includes a new official logo, anthem, and branding. The initiative, originally announced by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, aims to involve all islands, resorts, and industry stakeholders in a unified national effort.

In conjunction with the campaign, the Ministry of Tourism announced updates to its tourism awards. Starting next year, the awards will expand to include four new categories designed to evaluate service quality and infrastructure development more comprehensively.

Abdulla Yaseer, CEO of Visit Maldives Corporation, noted that despite challenges such as regional instability in the Middle East affecting flight patterns, the industry is seeing significant recovery. He reported that 1 million tourists had visited the Maldives as of June, reinforcing the country’s status as a leading honeymoon and Indian Ocean destination.
